Industrial Activated Carbon Filter System Filter Sand Automat

An activated carbon filter is a widely utilized water treatment device. As a pre-treatment component in a water desalination system, it can adsorb residual chlorine that cannot be removed during pre-filtration, thereby effectively ensuring the service life of downstream equipment, improving water quality, and preventing contamination. This is particularly important for safeguarding reverse osmosis membranes and ion exchange resins from free residual chlorine-induced poisoning and pollution. Additionally, the filter adsorbs contaminant substances such as small molecular organic matter that may leak from upstream processes. It demonstrates a significant adsorption and removal effect on odors, colloids, pigments, heavy metal ions, and also contributes to reducing COD levels. Furthermore, it helps reduce the SDI value of RO inlet water, ensuring that SDI remains below 5 and TOC is less than 2.0 ppm.

    Equipment description

The filter material of the activated carbon filter may include activated carbon, quartz sand, and gravel. The primary filter material is typically activated carbon, with quartz sand and gravel serving as cushion layers. Residual chlorine, colloids, and other small particles in water are primarily removed through the adsorption and reduction properties of activated carbon. Larger particles and suspended matter are filtered out via interstitial voids within the media layers.
The equipment can be designed for either manual or automatic control, with the ability to switch between these modes. The automatic control system monitors and regulates all operational and process control points, enabling unattended and fully automated operation. The system employs a combination of air-water backwashing, with backwash wastewater being discharged. In the system design, concentrated water from the reverse osmosis process is utilized for backwashing, thereby enhancing water utilization efficiency.
Backwashing of the filter can be initiated automatically based on either the backwashing time interval set by the central control system or the differential pressure setting at the filter inlet and outlet.
The operational modes of the filter include water production, water backwashing, air backwashing, and forward washing. All operational modes are executed automatically according to pre-set programs.
